The management of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Theatre Festival for Youth (SITFY) revealed that it has received 302 performances from local, regional, and international troupes willing to take part in the festival’s upcoming edition, scheduled to take place between 6 and 11 November 2021.

The applicants are vying to compete in numerous segments of the festival such as the Group Production Competition, the Monodrama Competition, and the Street Theatre and Non-Traditional Spaces Theatre Competition.

The festival’s special committee is currently reviewing all the applications and will be revealing the shortlisted plays and troupes within the coming days.

Held annually, the SITFY is the first of its kind to be organized in Sinai. The festival was launched with the aim of providing opportunities to young theatre practitioners while decentralizing the artistic scene and reviving tourism in South Sinai.

The founder and president of the festival is Mazen El-Gharabawy and the artistic director is Ingy El-Bastawi.
