Melissa Trepa is a director, dramaturg, and student theatre artist who recently moved to St. Louis, Missouri to complete a Masters in Theatre Arts at Fontbonne University. For the last decade, Trepa has been based in the Midwest working in the Iowa and Missouri Theatre Industries. Trepa graduated from the University of Iowa with Honors in English, Creative Writing, and a minor in Theatre Arts, and a certificate in Philanthropy and Fundraising in 2019. In addition to collaborating in the Midwest, Trepa expanded her experience when studying theatre abroad in Dublin, Ireland in the summer of 2019. Trepa has worked with companies such as the Thespian Festival, local Iowa Theatre, University of Iowa Theatre, Poetry Ireland, Fishamble Co. Dublin, and the Mustard Seed Theatre in St. Louis. Her experience ranges from new play development processes and production dramaturgy to her mentorship experience within her undergraduate and graduate studies. Melissa’s work focuses on directing, dramaturgy, and production experience-based predominately on adaptations, social justice, and new play development. Trepa has a wide range of theatre experience with other artists including artistic collaboration on contemporary dances, to research for new play development, assistant directorship positions, acting as a reader for play festivals, and so much more. Trepa is a proud member of the LMDA and is excited to assist The Theatre Times in expanding and exploring the arts from all over the globe
